The VCS DVS System has been put together with road user safety in mind and is DVS compliant. This is a required standard applicable for operating HGVs insdie the M25, for more information visit the DVS2020 website. It encorporates a pedestrian and cyclist detection system that utilises ultrasonic sensors to detect any obstacles in front or to the side of the vehicle. Suitable for both HGVs and lorries, when the vehicle slows down to around 10Mph, the VCS DVS System checks the area across the front and around the corners of the vehicle for objects. During any turning or parking manoeuvre, if an obstacle or pedestrian enters the vehicle’s detection zone, the driver is warned with a visual
warning, followed by an audible warning when the object is too close to the vehicle.

The system consists of 8 ultrasonic sensors (4 or 6 to be mounted on the front bumper and/or 1 or 2 to be mounted on the nearside and offside bumper/step and wheel arch), two displays with internal piezo tone buzzers (to be mounted on the nearside and offside A-Pillars, at side mirror height, facing towards the driver’s position) and a Control Module (to be mounted behind the dash).
